Ignite will deliver over 20 events to support individuals in establishing a startup in Whittlesea. This program is made possible with funding from LaunchVic, City of Whittlesea and generous in-kind support from Melbourne Innovation Centre.
About the Ignite Program
City of Whittlesea
The City of Whittlesea, Economic Development Team supports current and emerging businesses. This program will give our community members the confidence to move forward with business ventures and address the need to create more employment opportunities for the growing municipality. In designing this program, Council’s ultimate goal is to provide opportunities for the emerging startup community to have opportunities to understand and minimise the impact of obstacles, and build the ability and confidence to allow you to move forward in your business venture in a structured and supportive environment. The Ignite program, together with the Business Coworking and Incubator Feasibility Study (currently being prepared) will help build a local ecosystem of innovative, cutting edge startups in Whittlesea.
Melbourne Innovation Centre
Melbourne Innovation Centre has a long history of supporting the startup community in Melbourne’s North. It operates a number of business incubators and coworking spaces just outside the boundaries of Whittlesea. They have expertise in facilitating startup programs and a key player in developing the startup ecosystem and have the expertise and resources to deliver Ignite.
LaunchVic is Victoria’s startup agency. It was established by the Victorian Government in March 2016 as an independent agency responsible for developing Victoria’s startup ecosystem. LaunchVic is leading the development of a globally-connected startup ecosystem. With the help of startup founders, entrepreneurs and investors, corporates and universities, we aim to build a startup ecosystem that can strengthen the economy, encourage more people to work with and for startups, and represent all Victorians. Our focus lies in the areas of funding, community building and global recognition for the Victorian startup ecosystem.
